We reach out to people in our local community in a variety of ways. With our Gift of Giving program at Christmas, we collect and distribute clothing, toys and food to several local families in partnership with the Jarvis Caring Cupboard.
We are strong supporters of the Mission and Service Fund and the Disaster Relief Programs of the United Church of Canada, and the Presbyterians Sharing Fund of the Presbyterian Church of Canada, enabling us to participate in various outreach programs in Canada and around the world.
Our minister conducts services and visitation at local retirement homes for all residents in these homes.
We also host Seasoned Souls, providing dinner and entertainment to seniors 55+ years of age on the 4th Friday night of the month in March, April, May, October and November. At the suggested donation of $20 to cover costs of food and entertainment, this program is delivered as an outreach service to seniors.
We collect food from our members to support the Jarvis Caring Cupboard and deliver periodically throughout the year. In the summer we grow produce also for the Caring Cupboard using 4 raised garden beds provided to us by the Jarvis Lions Club.
Elvis was in the building
A concert hosted by Jarvis Community Church in support of the Jarvis Caring Cupboard was a resounding success—yes, Elvis really was in the building on April 26!
Award-winning Elvis tribute artist Garry Wesley entertained an audience of 140 with a lively mix of gospel, country, and rock favourites. Based in Wisconsin, Wesley performs internationally across the U.S. and Canada. Jarvis marked the final stop on his latest tour before returning home the following day.
Beyond delighting a full house, the concert made a meaningful impact in the community. Proceeds from the event enabled Jarvis Community Church to present a donation of $1,865 to the Jarvis Caring Cupboard, supporting local residents in need throughout Haldimand County.
